Born of earth, fire and a large helping of magic. This wheel thrown stoneware vase has been glazed through a raku firing process with oxygen reduction, meaning it was removed from the kiln at temperatures over 1900 degrees fahrenheit, immediately introduced to combustibles and then placed in an airtight environment while aflame. As the oxygen was burned out of it’s airtight chamber the vase’s color began to emerge - This vase features beautiful mottled blue and green tones with smokey shadows and a rich alligator skin texture.
Raku works are not intended to hold water, this art piece is for decorative uses only.
