This metallic rose gold and jungle green vase was hand thrown on the wheel and brought to life through the veritable magic of raku firing with oxygen reduction - a process where pieces are removed from the kiln at temperatures above 1900 degrees fahrenheit, immediately introduced to combustibles then then placed in an airtight environment while aflame. As the oxygen was burned out of it’s airtight chamber the vase’s color began to emerge. Mottling and color variations can be found throughout this work.
Raku pieces are intended as decorative art works only. This vessel is not intended to hold water.
